Hi Everyone,

I have a question. There was a band in Milwaukee that put out an album in 1970-71 when I was a senior in high school. It came out in a plain brown album cover and was sold locally in all the music stores (you remember "1812 Overture" record store?).As I recall, it was quite good. Anyway, I can't remember the name of the band or their songs. Its driving me nuts!

Any help?

Might have been the Messengers. They had a single that charted at number 62 nationally in 1971 and were quite popular at the time.  Here is a link to the song.

No, it wasn't them, but thanks for the try! Trouble is I have so little to go on. I'm getting faint memories about a refrain saying,  "to ease that pain, to easer that pain. I got to go baby you know it. I got to go baby you know it, baby don't blow it, baby I gotta go." Or something like that. It was very Jazzy sounding.

Thanks. Huh

Hey Putty, the only group and song that came to mind was "Skyhigh" by Jigsaw, but of course it wasn't put out in 71,

The name of the band was SOUP. The name of the song was "To ease The Pain" SOUP had Doug Yankus on guitar, David Faas on bass and Rob Griffith on drums. Some of their songs are on You Tube. The drummer Rob Griffith and the guitar player Doug Yankus are both deceased. The Bass player Dave Fass is living in Madison, WI. Hope this helps you out.
