Hi. Has anyone remember the show Hatha Yoga w/Kathleen Hitchcock. Certainly for fans in Milwaukee. Here's her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/52199897647/

I have 19 episodes of the series and looking for more. Here's my website. http://tvshowtrading.weebly.com/pbs-shows.html

there is no doubt that there is a difference in taste from original verses new fake ones. Too bad. The old ones were awesome.

I think I was the only one I knew who liked violets candy. Smelled like soap, came in purple and silver wrapper. Anyone remember milkshake candy bars? were great frozen. mars candy bars were wrapped in O.D green. what happen to forever yours bar? Wax mini coke bottles with some kind of juice in them. Made you thirsty. Anyone else chomp on the wax? Juju red coins that pulled your teeth out. bonomo Turkish taffy bars. Slowpokes that once you got it warm and soft as you ate it then as it air cooled it turned into a weapon with jagged points. bit o honey that always stuck to the paper. Ate a lot of paper. Thought we were cool with candy cigarettes. Tootsie rolls and milk dudes didn't have that hard waxy shine. They had a softer dull texture. It was better. Baseball cards used to have a piece of chalky bubblegum the same size as the cards, then they scrimped on it and cut it in halve. That gum was like eating shards of glass until you chewed on it for awhile. We ate it anyway. there was lots of penny candy. I'm sure we drove the lady at the corner store crazy hemming and hawing trying to choose what we wanted. Now kids have to eat healthy. what's the fun in that.

went to a wedding at a hall on 18th or 19th maybe 20th and forest home, north side of street. yes halls everywhere. remember always seeing a couple of strip clubs on 13th and maybe Cleveland? east side of street. Can't remember names. Some grocery store cross street down a little. cant remember name. would be early 70s. There was a Dino's pizza further south from there east side of street. Remember Lincoln music on 13th and Morgan?? west side of street. bought first guitar there. The square area between Oklahoma on the  south and Lincoln on the north, 13th on  west and 6th on  east had bars on seemingly every corner and even in the middle of the block. lots had halls. some had a bar on three of the four corners. I remember some kind of hardware store on Arthur and 12th or 13th? North side of street. Ring any bells for anyone? cant remember name. also natatorium between Arthur and Lincoln on 10th or 11th? What was name of grade school on 11th and Oklahoma? Does anyone remember the "forge" teen dance joint on Oklahoma ave. south side of street. maybe across from the forge foundry? hope someone else remembers some of that stuff.

They had a good product at a good price. Smiley

I guess that doesn`t seem to mean much in today`s world. Roll Eyes

I loved going there as kid, and as a adult.

A neighbor of mine made a planter out of one of their old wooden cases.
But, like the company, it didn`t last forever. Cry

Good memory there, I lived South of that location near Morgan Ave.

The TV shop was called John's TV service
The Diner was at 5910 W Oklahoma (Wehr's Tap / Service station)
The General Douglas MacArthur School was at 3151 S 60th
The Pate Station was named Marv's Pate

All info from my 1956 Milwaukee City directory

I remember going to American soda water on 40 something and loomis rd. Grabbing a wooden crate and filling with dozens of flavors. Most of the bottles were recycled and well worn. You got a deposit on the empty bottles when you returned them. The cream soda was great. lime too. Family run operation with kids and all working. Clattering empty bottles sailed along on long multi roller conveyor tracks in all directions. The place was always buzzing with activity. They also carried a lot of beers and liquor. was a cool place.

At 60th. small shopping center that housed Kubiak's drugs. Ace hardware, A&P or National Tea groceries, a T.V repair and a barber shop. Something else stuck in there but I can't remember.  The stores were just behind A little Pate station N.W corner. Later Kubiak's and Ace moved Around the corner further south. N.E corner was and old diner and gas before the standard station was built. S.W. corner was a Clark station not the one that's there now. Behind it we watched as they built a ultra modern Kohl's foods( no pillars) S.W corner is still St. Greg's although there was a little school on part of there lot along 60th. I believe it was General Douglas Macarthur school. Also on Oklahoma across from Kohl's was The  House of vision( rode the elevator up and down. only three levels but was fun when your a bored kid.) Then a Baskin robbin's 31 flavors and a mautz paint in same building. Was pretty daring to walk through the tunnel under Kohl's parking lot and cross Oklahoma subterranean style. Was some bar on 57th. Schmidt's mom and pop grocery store ( Gilbert and Gerdy) on 56th across from fire station. Sentry on 51st across from Serb hall. White Manor liquor on S.E corner. Across the street was a Shell station, now a music instrument or lessons store. Milwaukee police chief Brier lived just behind white manors parking lot, across the alley. There was always a detective in a car guarding his house. I remember alleys everywhere east of 51st. great for kids on there bikes to zoom through the neighborhoods. I think I can recall what was on 68th and 76th. but enough for now. Anyone remember the name of that diner & gas on 60th N.E corner before the standard station( something maybe like Red's or something like that?)

modern rambler(before Mcarthy) on 53rd. first stop & go in area across the street. from new the three lights on top of sign flashed in wrong order. it flashed( STOP-GO-AND) Texaco station on 51st N.E side. further east. Dino's pizza. Chuck Blanchard's barber shop. I think  46 or 47th. coin shop & a golf club store 47 or 48th I think. Dutchland Dairy was closer to the road then it burned down. we all watched sitting on our bikes. was rebuilt set further back. trampoline and mini golf place probably where burger king is. also tiny Clark station. standard station same side. now some auto repair. grebes bakery &  T.V repair place other side of street. Little A.W stand N.W corner old grouchy guy had it. it was across from Dino's pizza. Jade forest Chinese restaurant on 43rd next to Wally's gas. The Marina bar next to Chappies sporting goods. wood lighthouse still on parking lot. building kitty corner from jade forest was an A&P or National Tea. Now its a dollar store. Think if I thought about it a while I could name every business on forest home. This is what just comes to mind. Remember Counsler's night club about 69 or 70th. Watched them build Spring Mall. Grants was the anchor store. There was a Burger Chef on 76th across from Spring Mall. Feel like I'm doing time travel.
