Now I'm not sure of my memory about this being where we used to go. I know we used to drive south on 27th but maybe it was the "lake" on Ramsey. I remember a home or resort too. Thanks for the responses.

Google found some additional info and interesting history:
"Grobschmidt Park in Franklin 155 acres of mostly unimproved natural area including a 4 acre "Mud Lake", 2 marshes, two wooded areas, and two prairies. The county parks department has put out a few (3) benches to sit on, a single trash can, and a sign, but other than that, it's pretty much wild. Grobschmidt Park walking trail. Walking trail. A half mile gravel path goes around the lake and once in a while you will actually see someone walking on it. If you Google the park, you'll find only a few photos, and a little bit of history. It used to be farmland belonging to the former mayor of South Milwaukee, William Grobschmidt, and his grandson Chester was also a South Milwaukee mayor. Looking at old aerial photos, the lake used to be half as big, but development in the area changed the water drainage and enlarged it. I think it's better now than back in 1963 when the only aerial photo was taken. A small plane crashed here back in the '70s and a few children drowned in the lake back in the 50's." |

I`m pretty sure more then one "Pond" was called Mud Lake. I know there was a pond around 35th and Ramsey that we called "Mud Lake" back in the 60`s. |

What was in the area immediately south of College from the N-S park road just west of 92nd west to the Nature Center entrance at the start of the hill? It is now all grown over with buckthorn and other scrub but at one time was open to the creek.

What buildings or other things were around the pond back in about 1960? My grandfather used to take me there and now all is gone.

I remember "Polish Delights".
![]() I don`t know if they are one in the same. The ones I remember were probably half the the size of a hot dog, and they were smoked. We didn`t boil them in water. We simmered them in a pan with chopped onion! Do you recall where your Grandparents lived?? |

My Grandparents lived on the South Side, and my favorite item from the South Side Sausage Company were juicy little items called Polish Delights. Small and spiced, but not too spicy for a kid, I still can conjure their aroma as they came from the pot of simmering water.
