Title: Town Milwaukee Hall Post by: sourpuss on February 04, 2010, 07:12:11 AM Town Milwaukee, Wisconsin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Town of Milwaukee (not to be confused with the City of Milwaukee) was a town in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin created on March 17, 1835. A number of Milwaukee County municipalities were created out of portions of it. After the last portions of the town were annexed, it officially ceased to exist in 1955. In its original form, using modern-day reference points, the Town of Milwaukee reached from Greenfield Avenue in the south to County Line Road on the north, Lake Michigan on the east and 27th Street on the west. Its neighbors were the Town of Wauwatosa and the Town of Granville to the west, the Town of Lake to the south and the Town of Mequon to the north. The Town of Milwaukee Town Hall, built in 1872, was located near Green Tree Road and Port Washington Road when the picture was taken, in present-day Glendale. Does anyone know what became of it? It has been refurbished. Check it out. 5909 N. Milwaukee River Pkwy.

Nimby Title: Re: Town Milwaukee Hall Post by: Rudy228 on February 16, 2012, 01:01:43 PM I was one year old when my family moved from E. Kane Pl (near Pulaski St.) to the Town of Milwaukee. My earliest memories start there. My younger brother was born there. I believe much of that area was used by the military or military related industry during WWII and we moved to 15th and Burleigh where we lived during the war years.
This is the first time I've seen mention by anyone of the Town of Milwaukee. |
