Title: BUBBLERS Post by: Roadsnakes on November 11, 2012, 01:59:45 PM There used to be BUBBLERS scatter all over Milwaukee when I was a kid. ;)
The parks all had them, busy streets had them, but my favorite bubbler was on 6th and Lincoln ave. ;) It was huge. Three spouts that ran all the time so the water was ice cold. :P Great on a hot day. :P AND, it was a real "bubbler". The water came bubbling straight up like a small fountain. :o Title: Re: BUBBLERS Post by: on November 13, 2012, 03:15:07 PM That's for sure, Bubblers everywhere. We were never thirsty for long riding our bikes around. And if we got a thirst for a soda we scanned the roadsides for abandoned soft drink bottles. They were deposit bottles back then and carried a bounty of a few pennies each. Before long we had an ice cold soda for our re-cycling efforts, ha!
Title: Re: BUBBLERS Post by: Roadsnakes on November 14, 2012, 10:40:55 AM The last bubbler I remember being installed was on 41st and Oklahoma ave. Right in front of Blessed Sacrament church. There was one there back in 60`s , but was taken out . Then around 1990 they put one back in. I thought it odd at the time, because all around the city they were taking them away, and here (around 1990) they were adding one. Too bad it only stayed there for a couple of years.
It was nice to know back when I was a kid riding my bike that every pary and playground had a bubbler to get cool drink from. Like I said in the first post, my favorite was 6th and Lincoln , because it ran all time , water was ice cold, and it bubbled straight up.
